Seaside Heights Results

We were greeted in the morning by shoulder high bowls on the South Side of Casino Pier.  The swell held all day with a high tide going low and then filling back in for the finals, not too much wind and thankfully none of the rain they had been calling for.  In addition to Sam Deeley winning the Air Show, following are the overall results.  Next contest is scheduled for Ocean City, NJ, July 17 or 24 depending on the waves. Seaside Contest is on for Sunday June 12

The contest is on for Sunday, June 12 on the South side of the Casino Pier in Seaside NJ.  If you have not already registered, there will be limited beach entries available.  Only heats with empty slots will be utilized for beach entries on a first come first served basis.

Long Beach NY Results

 

Final results for the Lincoln Blvd. event that ran on Sunday, May 15 in waist high surf.  The day looked like it was going to be dismal for surf and weather, but in the end, it all worked out.  The tide dropped out, the surf picked up and the sun tried to make an appearance.  Looking forward to our next contest scheduled for 6/13 on the South side of the Seaside Pier.  Get your entries in.

Manasquan Contest Results

For anyone that missed the contest in Manasquan this past Sunday, you really missed it.  The surf was firing, almost too big, but it's hard to cancel a contest when you have waves, especially on that has been cancelled several times already.

Given the size of the surf when we first arrived at the beach, I made the call to take some time to set up the site and see if the swell might drop off a bit.  When it became obvious that the swell was here to stay I opted to send out the Men and Juniors first to show the rest of the divisions how it was going to be.  In the end it all worked out, as the surf did start to drop slightly as the day wore on.  

There was one broken board, a few dings and only one trip to the ER.  Given the conditions, I think we got off easy on this one.  Looking forward to our next stop, Long Beach, NY on May 15.  Hope to see a bunch of people there.

2011-2012 Preliminary Schedule

As we get ready to head south to New Smyrna Beach for the NSSA East Coast Championships, I am finally making some headway with the schedule for the Northeast for the 2011-12 season.  The preliminary schedule is as follows, since I am waiting for final approval from some of the towns, I have marked confirmed the ones that are already approved.

Contest #1 AA - Manasquan, NJ  - April 17th (no wave date May 7).  Final beach to be determined depending on conditions. (Confirmed)

Contest #2 A - Long Beach, NY - May 15th (no wave date June 5). Lincoln Blvd.  Awaiting final approval.

Contest #3 AA - Seaside Heights - June 12th (no wave date June 19) South Side of Pier.  (Confirmed)

Contest #4 A - Ocean City, NJ - July 17th (no wave date July 24). 7th Street. Awaiting final Approval

Contest #5AA - Beach Haven LBI, NJ - August 14th (No wave date August 21st). Awaiting Final Approval

Contest #6 A - TBD - Hoping to run somewhere on Long Island.

Manasquan Is On For Sunday

We are going to run Sunday in Manasquan.  Final beach to be determined, I will let everyone know by tomorrow night.  Please e-mail me if you or your child is coming and you have not sent the entry yet.  While they would most likely get here by Saturday if you mailed them today, I would rather know now and put the heats together and get the forms and payment on the beach.  

Northeast Conference HS Champs

Here are the official results for the High School Championships.  It should be noted that the three individual champions, Mike Ciaramella, Cassidy McClain and Teddy Lyons, all won every heat in which they surfed.  Additionally, Dane Nugent, who ended up in 4th in the Mens final, won every heat he surfed in until the final.

1st Place with 149 total points and winner of the newly created Joe Keenan High School Champ Award  Ocean City Team A.  

While Manasquan put up a great fight they just couldn't top an in form Ocean City squad.  Finally, big props to first time team Long Beach NY, who fielded the first ever team from the state of New York and put on an impressive performance.
